Rebekka Stephan

Project Manager - Cellist

BIO

Rebekka Stephan has been part of CoGNiMUS’s journey from the very beginning. First as a cellist, she has been part of the project management team for several years now.

Rebekka lives in Cologne, where she studied music pedagogy. Her particular interest is in contemporary music. She is a founding member of the ensemble electronic ID which focuses on newly composed works for ensemble and electronics, applying an interdisciplinary approach. She has received important impulses by participating in the Darmstädter summer courses for contemporary music, the Workshop for contemporary music (The German Music Council) and the Klangspuren International Ensemble Modern Academy. She studied contemporary music with Barbara Maurer at the Folkwang University (Essen, Germany).

Apart from being a cellist, Rebekka is a passionate cello teacher and youth orchestra conductor. She loves to impart the variety of music as an active musician.

With CoGNiMUS, Rebekka has found a way to express her hopes for the future music scene. No matter which particular music style, whether it being contemporary music, music for children or “classical” music, she hopes for a solution to connect with the audience through the design of concerts. Her specific responsibility in the team is concerts with the focus on contemporary music.
